How I work

Taking the first step to see a counsellor can be daunting, but it's a crucial step towards achieving greater mental health and wellbeing.

At my practice, I understand the importance of building a trusting and supportive relationship with my clients, which is why I offer a reduced-price initial session. During this session, you'll have the opportunity to get to know me and my approach, share the challenges you're facing, and discuss how we can work together to overcome them. 

As we talk, I'll listen carefully to your concerns and work to gain a deep understanding of the impact they're having on your overall wellbeing. Together, we'll develop a plan for future sessions, including frequency and timing, that meets your unique needs and goals. 

At the heart of my counselling approach is the belief that you are the expert on your own experience, and that my role is to support you in finding your own solutions. I understand that everyone's journey is unique, and so I am committed to working collaboratively with you to develop a tailored approach that meets your individual needs and goals. Whether you are seeking short-term support to deal with a specific issue, or longer-term exploration of deeper patterns and challenges, I am here to support you in whatever way feels right for you.

During our sessions together, I strive to create a warm and calming environment where you feel comfortable sharing the difficulties that brought you here at a pace that suits you. With an open-ended number of sessions, you have the freedom to choose how much you want to share with me as we go. As your counsellor, I will listen attentively and empathetically, reflecting on the feelings you express, which will help us explore your experience in greater depth, and ultimately move towards a more fulfilling life.

From time to time, we may review our progress together and reflect on where you feel you are in the process. This may lead you to conclude that it's time to end the counselling, or it may reveal new issues or goals for us to work on. Should you decide to leave, I will provide you with one or more final sessions to prepare you for continuing your journey. Remember, you are always welcome to return to counselling whenever you need it.
